Obituary

Bill Owens's love of life does not come to an end with his death. Bill passed away on November 4, 2021 at the age of 51 after a courageous battle with cancer, surrounded by loved ones who will continue to honor his legacy by living their lives to the fullest. Bill worked in hospitality and retail for 25 years, drawn to those industries because of his love of people and especially children. His most recent and favorite role was at Culver's where Dan and Valerie were kind and supportive, providing him opportunities to interact with guests daily. Bill's kind smile was contagious and genuine, and frequently on display even as he worked through the physical pain from his illness. Bill's life journey was never easy but was touched by many special people. From his spectacular parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles, and cousins or his Special Olympics volunteer coaches like Bill, Bob and Glen, he was blessed by the selflessness and kindness of so many people that brought him joy and happiness. The simplest pleasures in life brought great joy to Bill. He loved a quiet evening with family and friends. He especially loved spending time with his nieces, nephew and cousins, playing sports, fishing, enjoying live entertainment or watching movies. He also loved telling stories about how he protected his little brother when they were young. Bill was an avid traveler with an adventurous spirit, recently traveling to Australia and New Zealand where he cradled koalas and sheared sheep. Bill had an uncanny ability to find happiness in his daily activities and helping others. His kindness was as contagious as his smile. His loyalty was fierce, he was generous to a fault and he was the best big brother in the history of the universe. Bill is survived by his parents, Rick and Sharon, his brother Gerry, sister-in-law Antoinette, nieces Mia and Annelise, nephew Ian and many cousins.
