William Bryan Brownfield Jr. (aka Bill, Billy, Mr. B, Mr. Bill, Dad, Papap, Zio, Barbar, Mr. Brownfield) It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of William "Bill" Brownfield, an esteemed Army veteran, a devoted family man, and passionate community member, who left us peacefully at the age of ~85. Bill was born on 28 AUG 1939 to lates William Sr and Gladys Ruth Brownfield (nee Moreland), in Cadiz, Ohio and spent a life filled with love, adventure, and service. His brother, Richard Thomas Brownfield precedes him in death as do many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends (a reunion to be had for certain). A proud Army veteran, Bill dedicated his life to serving his country, instilling values of discipline and respect in all who knew him. He was married for 59 wonderful years to the love of his life, Gabriella (nee Paternoster), whom he affectionately referred to her as GiGio. Together, they built a beautiful family that includes their four children: the late, Samuel A. Brownfield, Michael (Tammy) Brownfield; Sandra (Keith) Crowe and Mark (late Cassandra) Brownfield (Sara). Bill's legacy lives on through his five grandchildren: Mason McGavock (Abigail); William Brownfield (Tommi Jo), Jacob Brownfield, Luke Brownfield, Lillian Brownfield and his cherished great-grandson, Isaac William Brownfield. He is also remembered fondly by Thatcher and Azalea, who brought immense joy to his life. A true adventurer at heart, Bill traveled the world, exploring breathtaking landscapes in Alaska, Hawaii, Ohio, and many other states, international destinations included Canada, Austria, Germany, Italy and Switzerland to name a few. His love for travel inspired many unforgettable family stories and treasured memories. Beyond his travels, Bill was deeply involved in his community. He was a dedicated Boy Scout leader, guiding young minds toward growth and adventure. As a soccer coach, he fostered teamwork and sportsmanship, and his creativity shone as he designed parade floats that delighted the community. Bill was also a master mechanic, known for his talent, precise diagnostic skills (human computer) and resourcefulness. Bill Brownfield was a man of many talents and a heart full of love. He will be missed deeply by his family and friends, whose lives he touched with kindness and laughter. Visitation will be held Wednesday, 28th of August, 2024 from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM at St. James the Greater Catholic Church in Dogtown 6401 Wade Avenue St. Louis, MO 63139. Funeral Mass for William Brownfield Jr. will be held on Wednesday, August 28, 2024, at 11:00 AM at St. James the Greater Catholic Church in Dogtown 6401 Wade Avenue St. Louis, MO 63139 Burial will follow at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery at 1:00 PM in Jefferson Barracks, Missouri.
