Jimmy Smith of Centralia Missouri 7/31/1929-7/9/2021 Wilbur (Jimmy) Gean Smith, 91 of Centralia MO, formerly of St. Louis MO, died peacefully Friday, July 9, 2021, at Heritage Hall Skilled Nursing, Centralia MO. Visitation will be held Friday, July 16, 2021 from 4:00 to 7:30 pm followed by funeral services at Jay B Smith Funeral Home in Maplewood MO. Burial will be held on Saturday, July 17, 2021 at noon at Memorial Park Cemetery in Moberly MO. Jim was born on July 31, 1929 the son of Glenn and Sylvia (Jones) Smith at their home in Holiday MO. He graduated from Moberly High School in 1947, enlisting immediately in the Air Force. Jim married Maurine Yeater on September 11, 1949. God blessed them with a happy marriage for 71 years, and he is survived by his wife, Maurine. After serving in the Air Force for two years he served in the Reserves for 20 years. He worked as a parts manager for Noll Motors until he moved his family to Pueblo CO to help out his aunt at her restaurant. He then began a career at Pueblo Army Depot eventually becoming a computer programmer. In 1969 he moved his family to St. Louis where he continued his programming career for the army, retiring in 1986. Jim accepted Christ at an early age and was a member of Hallsville Baptist Church, formerly of Maplewood Baptist Church. He served in many church positions through the years and was an ordained deacon. Along with his wife Maurine, Jim is survived by a son, Greg Smith and wife Patricia; a daughter Kathy Perry and husband Scott; and a daughter Glenna Evans and husband Kent. Six grandchildren: Rebecca Hoover and husband Charles; Russell Smith and wife Chelsea; Emily Roos and husband Darren; Erin Johnston and husband Luke; Justin Perry and wife Jennifer; Bradley Perry and wife Briana. Thirteen great grandchildren, many nieces and nephews, relatives and friends. Jim was preceded in death by his parents and sister Peggy Tisdel.
