Obituary

Walter L. Bartels, went into the arms of Jesus on Thursday, November 12, 2020. Loving son of the late Louis and Myrtle Bartels. Cherished brother of Marilyn Smith and the late Ardell Brady. Our dear brother, uncle, cousin and friend to all. Close friend of Rhita Allman. It's hard to summarize what a wonderful, kind, caring person Walter was in just a few short sentences. Walter has had many special moments in his life. He proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War. He had achieved the rank of Corporal. After 31 years of devoted work he retired from the Chrysler Corporation. Walter was known for being a jokester. He always had a joke to share or a story to tell. His greatest dedication in life was to the Lord. He was a long time member of Life Church in Fenton, MO. Walter was a special friend of the J.O.Y. group at church. (Just Older Youth). Walter will be remembered as a beloved brother, uncle, friend, neighbor and a good man who could never do enough to help his fellow man. He will be sadly missed by all whoever had the blessing of meeting him. Visitation will be on Monday, November 23, 2020 from 10am to 2pm at Jay B. Smith Funeral Home, 777 Oakwood Dr. Fenton, MO. Funeral service on Tuesday, November 24, 2020 at 1:00pm at Jay B. Smith Funeral Home. Interment Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery.
