Obituary

Virginia "Ginny" Andersen (nee Theiss), aged 97, passed away peacefully on November 29, 2024 in hospice care at Evelyn's House. Born on May 27, 1927, Ginny lived a long and fulfilling life, marked by her dedication to family and community. Ginny married the love of her life, Gunnar Andersen, on May 12, 1950. Together, they build a life filled with love and laughter until Gunnar's passing on May 4, 2012. Ginny was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother whose warmth and kindness touched everyone she met. She is survived by her three sons, Keith Andersen, Eric(Diane) Andersen and John (Stephanie) Andersen. Ginny was a proud grandmother to Eric Andersen, Brian (Kathryn) Andersen, Rebekka (Michael) Torre, James Andersen and Jacob Andersen. Her family was her greatest joy, and she cherished every moment spent with them. Ginny was preceded in death by her beloved siblings, Bob Thiess, Vera Imse (Theiss), and Donald Theiss. Her family and friends will remember her for her unwavering strength, gentle spirit, and the love she shared with all who knew her. Ginny, along with Gunnar, were Sunday School teachers at Brentwood Congregational Church in Brentwood for 40+ years. Visitation will be held on Thursday, December 5 from 4:00-8:00pm at Jay B Smith Funeral Home, 7456 Manchester Rd. Maplewood, Mo. 63143 Funeral Service will be friday, Dec. 6th at 10:00am at Jay B Smith, followed by the interment at 11:15am at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery. Family and friends are invited to gather and celebrate Ginny's remarkable life, sharing memories and stories of the joy she brought to so many. Ginny's legacy of love and kindness will continue to inspire those who knew her. She will be deeply missed, but fondly remembered by all whose lives she touched. In lieu of flowers, contributions to BJC Hospice/Evelyn's House, Friends of Kids with Cancer or Stray Rescue of St. Louis appreciated.
