Thomas Lester VanDaele entered into Heaven on Thursday, August 1, 2024 at the age of 78. Tom was born December 23, 1945, in Moline, Illinois to Raymond and Madeline (nee Dekeyser) VanDaele. He is preceded in death by his parents and brothers, James and Robert VanDaele. Loving husband of 50 years to Janice Eve VanDaele (nee Pyszka); cherished father of Brian (Christy) VanDaele and Chris (Katie) VanDaele; beloved grandfather to Paige, Olivia, Tyler, Jonah, Henry and Charlie VanDaele; dear brother-in-law, uncle, cousin and friend to many. Tom received his Bachelor's of Science from Western Illinois University, and completed his MBA while attending the University of Iowa. Tom's career as an Engineer spanned several years, during which he worked for companies such as John Deere and Chrysler, the latter bringing him and his family to St. Louis. An enthusiastic sports fan, Tom had a particular passion for baseball, with the Los Angeles Dodgers holding a special place in his heart. In his spare time, Tom found enjoyment in spending time outdoors doing yard work and taking care of their garden. Tom's greatest source of happiness was his family. He cherished every moment spent with them and adored his six grandchildren. Visitation will be on Thursday, August 8, 2024 from 4:00 PM to 6:30 PM at Jay B. Smith Funeral Home, in Fenton, MO. Funeral Mass will be at 9:30 AM on Friday, August 9, 2024 at St. Paul Catholic Church in Fenton, MO with Fr. John Nickolai officiating. Interment will be at St. Lucas Cemetery, near Sunset Hills, MO. Luncheon to immediately follow interment at St. Paul Catholic Church in Fenton, MO.
