Teresa Johanson, 62, passed away peacefully on June 22, 2025 after ending her battle with lung cancer. Teresa was born on June 16,1963 to George Wesley Zehr and Scarlett Shipley in Bloomington, Illinois. Teresa spent most of her life in Lemay, MO, an unincorporated community in south St. Louis County, where she attended school within Hancock Place School District. She was known for her high academics and athletic skills and developed many close friendships while in school that lasted her entire life. After high school, Teresa committed her life to raising her family, and ultimately was a strong supportive presence for many other children in the neighborhood who had no hesitation in calling her "mom". This was evident in her decision to adopt 10 children, while providing foster care for over 85 children throughout her years. Teresa enjoyed sports and outdoor activities through most of her life, such as fishing, baseball, basketball, hiking, and camping. Many of these interests were passed down to her children and grandchildren. She would make it a point to attend as many events for her kids and grandkids as she could. Survivors include her mother, Scarlett (Shipley) Butler of Barnhart, Missouri. 14 children Brandy Apple, Robert Andrews, Jr (Michelle), Brandon Andrews (Carla), Bridgette Andrews, Genevieve Black (Doran), Jeremy Gowan, Alicia Andrews, Josh Andrews, Dylan Andrews, Jamie Andrews, Randy Andrews, Blake Andrews, Brock Andrews, Bryce Andrews, and many more that would be considered as "her kids". Teresa also leaves behind her brother, Marty Zehr (Anna). 25 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren also survive along with several nieces and nephews. Teresa was preceded in death by her father, George.
