Obituary

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Susan Kathleen Figge-Grimm, beloved wife, devoted mother, treasured sister, and compassionate soul. Susan departed this life on June 12, 2025, leaving behind a legacy of love, kindness, and unwavering faith. Susan is survived by her husband and best friend, James Grimm, with whom she shared a beautiful life full of quiet joy and shared adventures. She leaves behind her cherished children, Isaac and Irina, whom she loved unconditionally and raised with tenderness, strength, and grace. Her beloved fur babies - one loyal dog and three dear kitties - will miss her gentle care and affection. She is also survived by her siblings, Cathy Bissell, Marilyn Johnson, Barbara Bell, and Richard Figge, with whom she shared a lifelong bond of family, support, and memories. Susan's love knew no bounds. Her heart found purpose in caring not only for her own children but also for the many animals she helped through her work with a fostering group that rehabilitated unsocialized cats. Her deep compassion extended to all creatures, great and small. She found joy in the simple act of filling bird feeders, watching feathered visitors stop by, and doing her part to care for the earth with conscious recycling and thoughtful reuse. An avid student of history, Susan held a Master's degree in writing from Eden Seminary. Her intellect and curiosity led her to books and films, which she eagerly shared with her husband and son during countless cozy evenings together. Whether watching old classics or exploring new shows, she cherished the time spent with her loved ones. Susan found peace and purpose in nature. She delighted in visits to the zoo and Grant's Farm, as well as in long walks and hikes, especially those shared with her dog and husband. These moments brought her serenity and joy. Faith was the foundation of Susan's life. She was a devoted Christian who expressed her spirituality through prayer, journaling, and writing devotionals. Her words reflected her heart - a heart full of gratitude, thoughtfulness, and love for God and others. Susan was truly a blessing to all who knew her. As a family member, friend, neighbor, and quiet force of kindness in the world, she left an indelible mark on every life she touched. Her legacy lives on in the love she gave, the wisdom she shared, and the peace she carried with her every day. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Louis Pet Rescue at https://stlpetrescue.com/donate. She will be dearly missed, forever loved, and always remembered.
