Mary "Susan" Crouch, age 73, went home to be with the Lord on November 18, 2025, surrounded by the love of her family. Born in Kirksville, Missouri, she was the beloved daughter of the late Paul and Saralou (Schrock) Andereck.
Susan shared 45 years of marriage with her devoted husband, Robert Crouch. She was a loving and dedicated mother to Hans Dykes, Teresa Dykes, Brett Crouch and his wife Ashley Crouch, and Brittany Clark and her husband Jason Clark.
Her love and legacy live on through her grandchildren: Ashley Miesner-Knirr, Kenneth Weaver, John Thom, Barrett Brandt, Marshall Crouch, Mallory Crouch, Luke Clark, Patrick Clark, Mikala Stefurak, Donald Clark, Makenzi Stefurak, Sean Stefurak, and Novalee Clark. She is also survived by her sister, Martha Bastean, and brother-in-law, Melvin Bastean, along with many nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends whose lives were forever touched by her.
A proud 1970 graduate of Webster Groves High School, Susan began her career in 1979 with the Defense Mapping Agency Aerospace Center (DMAAC), where she quickly distinguished herself with her technical expertise and dedication. Over the years, she advanced her skills and played a key role in important projects, later continuing her career with the National Imaging and Mapping Agency (NIMA), now known as the National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency (NGA). She officially retired in 2013, but her commitment to her work continued as she returned as a contractor until her full retirement in 2018. Through every stage of her career, she left behind a legacy of professionalism, service, and excellence in her field.
Susan was a strong advocate for her children and for others in the Deaf community, serving as a gentle voice that educated teachers, leaders, and anyone willing to learn. Her commitment to accessibility and understanding in St. Louis schools helped pave the way for educators of the Deaf. She was also actively involved in the St. Louis Bell Club and the Greater St. Louis Association of the Deaf, and remained deeply dedicated to supporting and giving back to the Deaf community. Her faith was the cornerstone of her life. As a devoted member of her Baptist church, she served faithfully in the choir and as church secretary.
Though small in stature, Susan was mighty in spirit. She loved her husband and children fiercely. With a heart for others, she knitted scarves & blankets for the homeless and for family members, filled Christmas shoeboxes each year for children around the world, and opened her home to anyone who needed a place to stay. She firmly believed in supporting small businesses and lifting up those around her.
Susan's life was a testimony through acts of compassion, generosity, and unwavering faith. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
"Yes, we are of good courage, and we would rather be away from the body and at home with the Lord." - 2 Corinthians 5:8
