It is with great sadness that we say goodbye to our sister, Sherry Lee Anderson who passed away December 12, 2023, at 73 years of age. Sherry was the dear daughter of Lester and Rosella (nee Peters) Anderson of Weldon, Illinois. Both preceded her in death. Sherry was the dear sister of Vicky Smith (Dale), Peggy Huisinga (Darrel), Edna (Jody) Royse (Chuck), and Darlene Wikoff. As the elder sister, she was a "mother" to all and the matriarch of our family. Her love, support and care were evident in all she did. She was a Sister-in-Law, Aunt, Great Aunt, Cousin and Friend to many. Sherry was a shining light to hundreds of patients in her 51-year nursing career. Her compassion, caring, knowledge and skills helped many families through difficult times. She was loved by her coworkers and an asset to any facility where she worked. As a Christian, Sherry loved her Lord. Her "cheer letter" ministry brought her and many others great joy. When she wasn't sending her weekly letters, she was knitting blankets to keep her family warm and cozy, or spending hours making her special holiday candy or cooking meals for us to share. Sherry was the best present wrapper ever. Her creativity was legend in our family and her nieces and nephews couldn't wait to see what creation she would come up with for them. A great joy to her was her cats. All 5 of them, but not necessarily at the same time. She always had at least one to spoil. The family would like to take this time to thank all who cared for Sherry during her illness. The care she received was warm, caring and professional. Thank you to all the care givers. Your compassion is greatly appreciated. A visitation will be held Monday, December 18, 2023, 10:00 am - 12:00 noon, at Jay B. Smith Funeral Home, 777 Oakwood, Fenton, MO, followed by a funeral service at 12:00 noon at the same location. A graveside service will be held Thursday, December 21, 2023, 11:00 am - 12:00 noon, at Nixon Township Cemetery at Weldon, IL. If desired, memorial donations may be made to Vandover Baptist Church, the Kidney Association or the Diabetic Association.
