Obituary

James Samuel Brown "Sam", 91, passed away on May 16, 2024, in Saint Louis, Missouri. James was born on November 17, 1932, in Sikeston, Missouri, to the late James and Mary Brown. He was united in marriage on February 4, 1956 to Vonda Brown and she passed away on October 24, 2021. Sam is survived by his children Debbie Brown, Cherie (Greg) Wandersee, Michael (Kim) Brown, and James "Jim" Brown; Grandchildren Joe Wandersee, Katie (Shay) Parra, Matt (Sami) Wandersee, Sarah Wandersee, Jessica Brown, Mike Brown, John (Ashley) Brown, Jacob Trulove, Brooke (Austin) Null, Briahna Brown, and JJ Brown; Bonus grandchildren Trevor Blechle, Tanner Blechle, and Nick Rebstock; Great-grandchildren Nash Riegel and Zeke Brown. Sam was raised in Wyatt Mo. The son of James (JP) and Mary Brown. After high school graduation, He joined the Air force and served from 1952 - 1956. Sam and Vonda were married in 1956 and soon moved to St Louis where They raised 4 children. He was a production control manager for National Vendors and retired in 1995. He enjoyed playing golf, bowling, fishing and tinkering on cars. He could usually be found watching TV "the tube" as he called it and mostly westerns. He never had a problem going on a road trip, even if it was just for a few Pepsi's or Chicago for a pizza! He loved spending time with family and friends... and neighbors who lovingly took care of him the past few years. He will be deeply missed by many! Sam is preceded in death by his beloved wife Vonda Brown, his parents James Brown and Mary Brown, as well as two grandchildren Amy Bruenger and Tim Wandersee. Visitation will be held Sunday, May 19, 2024, 3:00 PM - 7:00 PM, at Jay B. Smith Funeral Home, 7456 Manchester Blvd., Maplewood, MO 63143.
