Obituary

Robert S. "Bob" Jacquin, age 95, died May 24, 2019. He was born May 6, 1924 in Bonnots Mill, MO to Joseph and Elsie Amelia (Smith) Jacquin. His college studies were interrupted in 1942 when he was drafted into the Navy during WWII. His destroyer, the USS Lowry, served with distinction in the Pacific conflict. In 1947, he married Helen Muenks of Loose Creek, MO. Bob followed in the footsteps of his father and was a lifetime railroad man, finishing his career as an Amtrak conductor. He was an avid fisherman who could find fish when others could not. His family loved to hear the stories of his childhood, pitching baseball for his hometown team, life in the Navy, and the "fish" tales. Bob loved to serve his community and church; he enjoyed assisting at daily mass as an altar "boy" for many years. Bob was a kind and generous man who befriended everyone, from the mail carrier to the neighborhood dogs, who would stop at his house for treats. His memory will be cherished by his 3 children: Elaine (Charlie) Notis, Alan (David Litzelman), and Janice; grandchildren Nick (Darian Lindle) Notis, and Christine (Ramon) Mella; great granddaughters Eleni and Karina Mella and Tethys and Hero Notis; his sisters in law and brother in law; and his many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by Helen, his wife of 64 years. His life was full and long, but not long enough for those who loved him.
