Obituary

Robert "Bob" E. Estes, 55, passed away suddenly on Saturday, November 12, 2016. Beloved husband of Rose Marie Estes (Aquino); Dear son of Shelva Jean (Miller) and the late Bobby Francis Estes; Loving father of Angela Nicole Estes (Casey) and John Francis Estes (Chelsea) Dear stepfather of Lila Aquino, Heather Huttenlocker, Amanda Amman and Justin Lindsey; Cherished grandfather of Jax Estes, Hailey Haill, Bailey Lindsey, Alaina Huttenlocker and Adrienne Buretta; Dear brother of Phyllis Estes, Steven Estes and Dawn Estes (Tim Haill); Loving uncle of Jacob Smith, Jessica Estes, Jillian-Estes-Hall, and Amber Estes Beloved nephew of Shirley Marshall, Ed Estes (Norma), and Butch Estes; Robert was an incredibly intelligent individual and was wise even as a child. His mother used to call him her "little old man". As a teenager, he enjoyed working on cars and for his dad and grandfather at the family owned gas stations. Although he would never admit it, he used to convince his younger brother to do things that he shouldn't do, simply for his amusement (his sense of humor was another admirable trait of his). Steve was always ready to go along with whatever Robert said, just to impress him. His love of working on cars eventually led him to racing. Both his father and his former father-in- law were race car drivers, which likely inspired his love of the sport. He made many friends a long the way and enjoyed watching and attending races. He even kept one of his race car's doors hanging in the garage. At one point, he even hung up one of his friend's (Ron Hornaday) hoods from one of his race cars in his dining room. Hunting was another lifetime hobby of his. He has fed many loved ones over the years, starting with his infant daughter. "Elmer" still hangs on his wall today. He was so proud that he never had to purchase store bought meat. He spent the last day of his life in the woods - he packed up all of his gear when he noticed he wasn't feeling well and carried it at least a mile back to his aunt's house. Bowling was a family tradition that started with his grandparents. His father, his uncles, and himself bowled in several leagues. He taught his daughter to bowl when she was a teenager and they also bowled in leagues together. Most recently, he bowled in a league with his son and several other family members. Being a lover of all things Cardinals was also a family tradition that started with his grandparents. Any time there was a game on, they had it playing on tv. His father had season tickets and he attended many games with him. After his father passed, he continued with his passion of collecting memorabilia and attending games. He passed this tradition and love of the Cardinals down to both his son and his daughter, making them forth generation fans. He was an avid motorcycle rider with the local Kirkwood HOG chapter and his wife. Tens of thousands of miles ridden and a lifetime of memories. He started over more than once in his life and was self made. He was an expert in his field and always pointed out doors that he had sold throughout the city. If you ever blocked the tv, you would've heard him say, "I make doors, not windows". Although he had so many hobbies and always kept himself busy, nothing was more important to him than his friends and his family. His generosity knew no bounds. His presence in the lives of so many people will be never be forgotten. This impact will be his legacy. Bob is proceeded in death by his father Bobby Francis Estes, his grandparents A.D. Miller, Floyd and Anne Conner and step-father Doyne Marion. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund was created and donations may be made to Rose Estes. Please feel free to dress casual and even wear your favorite ST. Louis Cardinals attire to the wake and service.
