Obituary

Richard "Dick" Joseph McDonald was born Dec 30,1929 to Wallace and Pauline (deGuire) in Detroit, Michigan. He was preceded in death by his wife Carolyn, and sister Joan Costello. He is survived by his daughters, Pauline McDonald of St. Louis, Josie (John) McCarthy of St. Joseph, MO and Rose (Tom) Fagan of Cleveland Ohio, 10 grandchildren, dear step brother, brother in law, uncle, cousin, friend and neighbor. At an early age, his family settled in Illinois and he helped his father on the farm until serving in the army during the Korean War. In 1964, he married Carolyn (Caputa) and they raised 3 daughters. After college, he worked for Emerson Electric before his long employment at Washington University Microbiology Department as a research assistant and received an Honorary Doctorate. Dick had a great love for his parish, his family and grandchildren. In his younger years he loved to bowl, golf, camp and fish. He loved to tinker and could fix anything. He was a proud honorary Italian, having lived on the hill for over 50 years. Visitation Thursday 4-8 PM Jay B Smith, 7456 Manchester Road, Maplewood, MO. Mass on Friday 10AM at St. Ambrose Church.
