Obituary

Our beloved Rachel Renee Askins, 28, of High Ridge, MO, has passed August 16, 2020. She is survived by her parents, Vincent and Christine Askins, her sisters, Abigail Smith and Alexandria Askins, and her grandparents, Richard and Karen Foster and James and Patricia Askins. A loving daughter, granddaughter, sister, niece, and friend, Rachel will be remembered by all for having a warm heart, a big smile, and welcomed everyone she knew with open arms. Rachel was born April 8, 1992 at 7:20 p.m. in Kirkwood, MO at St. Joseph's Hospital to Vincent and Christine Askins. She was a genuine and generous person, with a smile that could light up an entire room, and a laugh that was utterly contagious. She graduated from Northwest High School in 2010, after spending four years in marching band. A true free spirit, Rachel spent her happiest moments surrounded by her family and friends in nature. She was extremely strong willed, and had the ability to fill a room with laughter in a second. Rachel was an intelligent, talented, and creative woman with many hobbies. Starting at 10 years old, Rachel began developing her talent with the flute that lasted throughout her life. An exciting storyteller herself, she loved to get lost in books, video games, movies and enjoyed writing. Rachel planned on exploring the world, and particularly enjoyed the ocean and mountainous regions. It's no wonder that this loss is so hard. When someone shines as bright as she did, they leave behind such a great shadow. We can all learn a lesson from Rachel and spread happiness and joy even when we are struggling. It was a blessing growing up with her and she will be missed beyond words. She can be at peace now. We'll see you someday, our dear Rachel.
