Patricia Ann Tate, age 83, passed away peacefully in her sleep on Friday, June 9, at Garden View Care Center in St. Louis, Missouri. Pat (Ellis) Tate was born on February 14, 1940. She was the daughter of Charles and Ann (Lammers) Ellis. She was born and raised in the area of Corydon, Iowa. Her family moved to Chariton, Iowa, where her parents ran a popular, local restaurant and later moved to Des Moines, Iowa. She graduated from North High School. Pat went to college in Kirksville, MO, where she met the love of her life, Larry Tate. They were married on September 2, 1961. Larry and Pat moved to his hometown of St. Louis, MO, where they raised three children. When their children were older, Pat worked as a secretary for EM Harris Building Company. Upon retirement, Larry and Pat spent their time visiting their children and grandchildren in Texas and Wisconsin. They also enjoyed many wonderful vacations with their "bridge club" group of friends from college. Pat loved to sew and was an excellent quilter. She made several quilts for family and was part of the Fellowship Baptist Church quilting group. This group made quilts which were auctioned off and the proceeds given to a local children's home. Her other passion was serving as a volunteer for Feed My People, a local food pantry and thrift store. Her husband, Larry, joined her and they served there together. Pat was a great example of a godly woman to her children and grandchildren. She was incredibly kind, generous and compassionate with a heart to serve others. Most important in her life was her relationship with Jesus. Her unwavering faith was the hope and stronghold of her life. She loved to spend time reading her Bible and her Daily Bread monthly booklets. She is now with her Heavenly Father for all eternity. Preceding her in death were her parents and her sister, Lucille (Ellis) McKinney. Pat is survived by her husband, Larry, and her children, Lori (Larry) Dejno, Brian (Michele) Tate and Michael Tate; grandchildren, Katelyn Dejno, David (Kayla) Dejno, Jordan (Carmen) Dejno, Kelsey (Jordan) Littel, Jonathan Tate, Brittany Tate; greatgrandchildren, Indigo Dejno and Zara Dejno; her brother, Charles Bradley (Cheryl) Ellis. Also surviving are several nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank AccentCare Hospice and Garden View Care Center for their compassionate care for Pat during her final days. Donations in memorial appreciated to Feed My People, 3295 Ottomeyer Road, High Ridge, MO 63049.
