Puetz, Olive Bernadine Teresa (nee Smith) "Ollie" passed away in St. Louis Thursday May 3, at 90 years. She was beloved widow of the late Edward C. Puetz Jr., daughter of the late Michael B. Smith and Clara Smith (nee Jenneman). She is survived by her loving sister Rita L. Redick, of Seattle, WA. Ollie was a devoted mother beloved by Jeannette Puetz, Gerald "Gary" Puetz and David Puetz of St. Louis, MO., James (Linda) Puetz of Overland Park, KS., and Joanne (Gary) Anderson of Brookings, SD., as well as six grandchildren and one great-grandchild; Ollie graduated from Maplewood High School class of 1938. Her lifelong passion for knowledge led her to complete a BA degree from UMSL in 1994 at the age of 73. At UMSL she was selected as Secretary of National Honor Society and twice named to "Who's Who among American College Students". She was a PBX operator/receptionist at St. Mary's Hospital (1973-1998) where she was fondly referred to as "The Voice" at St. Mary's Hospital because of her sweet voice and pleasant smile. Ollie's grandparents settled in Maplewood in 1890 predating Maplewood's incorporation as a city. Ollie and her children are the third and fourth generation to consecutively reside in their present home designed and built by her grandfather in 1922.
