Obituary

On July 12, 2021, Nell Marie Toti passed away peacefully, a little more than a month after celebrating her 89th birthday. Nell was born on June 6, 1932 to Pearl and Gladys Bedwell. Nell's two sisters are Donna Bedwell and Mary Bentrup. Nell grew up in St. Louis, Missouri and lived in the St. Louis area most of her life. She also lived for short periods of time in Columbus, Ohio, Seattle, Washington, and Boston, Massachusetts. Nell was married to Theodore Paul Toti (Ted) for 50 years, until Ted passed away in 2005. Nell raised 4 energetic boys and also spent about 20 years working for the Reliable Life Insurance Company in Webster Groves, Missouri after the boys were grown. She was active in the American Women's Business Association while at Reliable. Nell was a member of Our Savior Lutheran Church in Fenton, Missouri for over 50 years and was active in the Ladies Guild there. Nell loved to read, sew, crochet, craft, garden and travel. Her boys will tell you that she was also an incredibly good cook and made amazing peanut butter, oatmeal and snicker-doodle cookies. She was also a huge John Wayne fan and loved watching his movies. But the real love of her life was her family. She was a loving wife, amazing mom and an awesome grandmother and great-grandmother. She supported her sons in their many endeavors and was always there to love on her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Nell was preceded in death by her parents, Pearl and Gladys Bedwell, her husband, Ted, her parents-in-law, Amadeo and Nina Toti, and her brother-in-law Benny Bentrup. She is survived by her two sisters, Donna and Mary, and her 4 sons and their families (Tom and Karen Toti, Mark Toti, Dave and Terri Toti and Mike and Jana Toti). She is also survived by 12 grandchildren (Stephanie Darst (Eric), Amy Toti, Nick Toti (Rachel), Kyle Toti (Amanda), Alisha Hinds (Jeff), Erika Moss (Devin), Shelby Garlock (Stephen), Cole Toti, Cecilia Hedgecock, Jasmine Earl, Taylor Buckelew (Ben) and Tyler Toti and 13 great-grandchildren (Dominic Darst, Elle Darst, Aubrey Toti, Wyatt Toti, Clara Toti, Lucy Toti, Caden Hinds, Harper Hinds, Everleigh Moss, Reagan Garlock, Joelle Garlock, Ella Hedgecock and Reed Buckelew.)
