Nancy Harris Wicks, wife of Ned Wicks for more than 65 years, passed away surrounded by her family on September 27, 2024 at Laclede Groves Lutheran Services Center in Webster Groves. Born February 7, 1936 in St. Louis, Nancy was a lifelong resident of the St. Louis area, living in Brentwood for over 60 years prior to moving to Laclede Grove in 2020. She graduated from the University of Missouri and taught physical education in the Clayton and Brentwood school districts briefly before becoming a full-time homemaker, where her life was centered around her family, community and faith. Nancy was an active member of the Brentwood Congregational Church serving as a youth leader for many years along with being extremely active in Women's Fellowship. She was also a volunteer for the Board of Religious Organizations (BRO), continuing the legacy of her father. She provided an example of devoted service to those less fortunate which motivated others to do the same. Nancy was not someone who could just sit and rest. She always had to be doing something, whether it was knitting, needlepoint, cooking, gardening, reading, or doing a crossword puzzle and all of the other word puzzles from the newspaper. She will be remembered for her generous hospitality, especially at Thanksgiving and Christmas, where she always had a seat at the table for people who may have not had family with whom to share the holiday. She always saw the best in others, and provided unconditional love for her family. Nancy is preceded in death by her parents, Berney Harris Jr. and Adele Alschuler Harris, and her infant son Mark Edward Wicks. She is survived by her husband Ned, her children Nedra Jeffress (Shelia Holt), Matthew Wicks (Kristin Churney), Jerry Wicks (Penni), her grandchildren Daniel Jeffress, Sara Jeffress (Brian Salter), Alonzo Wicks, Marcy O'Dell (Ben), Sammi Wicks, Taylor Churney, Naomi Churney, Carter Churney, and great grandchildren Claire O'Dell and Zachary O'Dell.
