It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved Nancy Lee Bowen on April 7, 2024. Born on April 9, 1941, in East Saint Louis, IL, to Eugene and Alma (nee Lamm) Boesch who preceded her in death, Nancy lived a life filled with love, laughter, and adventure. She peacefully departed at her residence in St. Louis, MO, surrounded by her cherished family. Nancy had a very happy childhood. She and her 3 siblings loved growing up near their many cousins and relatives in the metro east. When Nancy was a teenager her family moved to Fort Worth, Texas where she finished high school. Nancy became the first in her family to attend college and she graduated from North Texas State University in 1963 with a Bachelors degree in Education. After a year of teaching elementary school, Nancy changed careers and became a stewardess for United Airlines. She loved her new career and on one of her layovers in Denver, she met a handsome passenger agent named Bill. After two dates, Bill proposed, and on April 2nd, 1966, Bill and Nancy were married! Nancy and Bill had two daughters, Kim in 1969 and Melissa in 1971. They raised their daughters in Fresno, California and in 1990 moved to San Luis Obispo, California. Nancy taught kindergarten for several years before returning to her career as an international flight attendant with United Airlines. Nancy brought comfort and joy to countless passengers with her warm smile and caring nature. Nancy had a passion for travel and through her career, and travels with Bill in retirement, she visited all 50 states and 24 countries. Nancy and Bill moved to Missouri to be near family in their retirement. She loved doting on her grandkids and cheering them on at their school and sporting events. In her spare time, Nancy was an avid reader, loved jigsaw puzzles and gardening. She had a very green thumb and her beautiful flower beds were the envy of all her neighbors. She leaves behind a legacy of love and kindness in her daughter Kimberly and son-in-law Jason West, daughter Melissa and son-in-law Pat Wickenhauser, along with her grandchildren Charlotte Fore, Emma Fore, Jack Fore, Michael Fore, Allison Taylor, and Kaitlyn Taylor. Nancy was preceded in death by her brother Kenneth Boesch and is survived by her sister Doris Schwegel and brother Michael Boesch. A Celebration of Life in honor of Nancy Lee Bowen will be held on April 12, 2024, at 12:00 pm. The ceremony will be a joyous occasion, filled with fond memories and stories shared by those who were fortunate enough to have known Nancy. The event will take place at Sunset Hills Community Center, 3915 S Lindbergh Blvd., Sunset Hill, MO 63127, where friends and family will gather to celebrate the beautiful life Nancy lived. In accordance with her wishes, Nancy will be cremated and laid to rest with her beloved husband, William, at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery, 2900 Sheridan Rd, St. Louis, MO 63125, on Tuesday April 16 at 12:45 pm.with immediate family. As we bid farewell to Nancy, let us remember her vibrant spirit and the immeasurable impact she made on all of our lives. May her memory continue to inspire us to live each day with the same passion and zest for life that Nancy exemplified. Let us celebrate a life well-lived and a soul that will forever shine brightly in our hearts.
