Mildred Louise (Edwards) Lovett was born May 24, 1940, in St. Louis, Missouri. She was affectionately known as "Mil." She was the third child born to the union of Marshall and Artheta Edwards. Preceding Mildred in death were her parents; two children, LaDoris Lovett (Baebae) and Edward "Jerry" Lovett; two sisters, Marian (Sis) and Muriel (Merle); and five brothers, Ervin (Big Erv), Floyd, Donald (Lloyd), DeWitt and Terry. Mildred was born and raised in St. Louis, Missouri and lived here all of her life. She was educated in the St. Louis City Public Schools. She was a dedicated employee of Blue Cross/Blue Shield and then at General Motors Acceptance Corporation (GMAC) from which she retired. Mildred started working at the age of 15 at St. Mary's Infirmary. Mildred had a zest for life and lived life to the fullest. She loved spending time with family and friends. She enjoyed "dressing up" and "looking good" - she was impeccable and creative in her dress. Mildred was never seen without her make-up, nails polished and looking fashionable. In today's terms, we would call her a "Diva." She leaves to mourn her passing, one sister, nieces and nephews, five grandchildren, numerous great grandchildren and great great grandchildren. The family wishes to thank their many friends and gratefully acknowledge every expression of sympathy and kindness shown during their time of bereavement! Visitation will be held from 10:00-11:00AM on Friday, June 13, 2025, at Jay B. Smith Funeral Home in Maplewood. Funeral Services will follow at 11:00AM at the funeral home.
