Michael Gerard Sperl, of Fenton, Missouri, passed away on September 11, 2025, at the age of 68. Mike was many things: a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend. But he was perhaps best known as the guy who could fix your motor, smoke your ribs, untangle your fishing line, and get you a quote on your car insurance, all before noon, and without making a big deal about it. Mike had a heart as big as his toolbox. He dropped everything to help someone in need. His generosity didn't come with conditions, just a quiet shrug and a "Yeah, I'll be right over." Whether it was a neighbor's broken mower or a full-blown family emergency, Mike showed up: on time, tools in hand, and asking nothing in return. That generous spirit could be seen in everything he did. Mike was a man who wore many hats, like fisherman, tinkerer, pit master, and proud dog whisperer. After a long day of working in his garage, one might find Mike soaking in his hot tub, then heading to bed with Babe, his beloved Brittany spaniel, at his feet. Mike's greatest joy, though, was his family. He is survived by his loving wife, Joy; his sister and brother-in-law, Joan and Mike; his children: Steve and Sarah, Bryan, Craig and Becca, Channce, Jessi and Paul, Adam and Jessica, Alana and Joe, Danielle and Adam. His memory lives on, too, through his cherished grandchildren: Justin, Emma, Kennedy, James, Joey, Oliver, Landon, Aidan, Avary, Addison, Kynslee, Elijah, Cora, and Addie; and through his Aunt Janice and a great many cousins. He is preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Rosemary, his aunt Clara and Uncle John, his Uncle Albert and Aunt Erline, and his Uncle Raymond. Visitation will be held on Sunday, September 14th from 2:00-4:00 p.m. at Jay B. Smith Funeral Home in Fenton. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Second Chance Ranch, in honor of Mike's lifelong love for animals - and for giving second chances.
