Obituary

Michael Anthony Amantea baptized into the hope of Christ resurrection on Monday, September 4, 2023. Beloved husband of Marylu Amantea (nee Veselsky) Dear son of the late Michael F. and Felicia Amantea Loving father of Michael J. ( Amanda) Amantea of Columbia, MO., and Matthew D. (Julia) Amantea of Richmond, VA Cherished grandfather of Magnus, Emmett, Marshall, and Nolan Dear brother of Rafaela "Ann" (James) Blum He was an uncle, great-uncle, nephew, cousin, and friend to many Michael Anthony Amantea was first a father. The original inventor of "dad humor", nothing made him happier than seeing a smile or laughter on his childrens' faces… even if it meant pronouncing scissors "Skiz-Naws" and spaghetti "Pa-Sketti" his entire life. Michael truly loved everything that brought his children joy. He taught them to fish, and mounted their fish on the wall just to remember how excited they were to catch it. He never forgave himself to his dying day for being unable to find a Ghostbusters Firehouse one Christmas; and he bought them expensive video games that were hard for him to afford, because all he wanted was to give them everything that brought them joy. And eventually... one day, as his son watched secretly from the stair well after bedtime, he even managed to get to the second world in Mario 3. Michael was next a husband who married his college sweetheart Marylu, moved her right out to the suburbs, and with dogs perpetually in tow, built a life with her. To provide for his family he worked as a human resources director for Southwestern Bell (now SBC) for most of his life, and after getting his MBA from WashU, he also taught business courses at Meramec Community College and Webster University. He was paid virtually nothing for his time, but did it because he truly loved teaching and guiding young adults. From cradle to grave, Micheal loved Cardinals baseball. He made sure his children knew every player growing up, and he followed every pitch till his final day. We love you dad. Tell Stan the Man we all said hi.
