Melvin (Mel) Jusich, 88, passed away peacefully from complications of heart disease on Saturday, March 8, 2025, with family and friends by his side. Melvin is survived by his loving partner, Marilyn Schulze, his children Peter Jusich (Mike Knoll), Joiann (Michael) Morhaus, and grandchildren, Emma and Maggie Morhaus. Brother to Lillian Corcoran and step-father to Brad (Amanda) Landsbaum and Nathan (Sharon) Landsbaum. Mel is preceded in death by his parents, John and Antonie Jusich, and sister, Carol Eisele. The most important thing to Mel was spending time with his family. Mel was passionate about music. He started playing the violin at age four. Mel sang as a Tenor for the St. Louis Symphony chorus, which also included the opportunity to perform at Carnegie Hall in Manhattan,New York. He also sang with The Madrigals and various other church choirs for several years. After he graduated high school, Mel enlisted in the Army. After his time in the army, he attended and graduated from Northwestern University in Chicago, Illinois. He was a Vice President at Daniel and Henry Insurance Company for many years. At the age of 55, Mel completed a master's degree at Lindenwood University in Mental Health Counseling. After he earned his master's, he went to work as an assessor for SSM Health. Mel found in his second career, that counseling and helping others was his true calling. Mel worked as a counselor until his retirement at age 79. Mel will be remembered for his kind, loving nature, and ability to comfort people. He enjoyed cooking with a nice glass of wine and was also a great baker. He was a longtime fan of Cardinals baseball and enjoyed golf for many years. He was very interactive with church groups throughout his life, most recently with The Gathering. The visitation for Melvin Jusich will be held on Friday, March 21st, at 11 am - 1 pm. A small service will be from 1-1:30 pm at Jay B. Smith Funeral Homes in Fenton, 777 Oakwood (at 141), 63026.
