Obituary

June 5, 1983 to September 20, 2009 Our beloved Matthew Scarbrough Browning departed for the next world on Sunday, Sept. 20, 2009 in St. Louis, Mo. Matt was born in Alabama and grew up in Sylacauga, where he spent his early years running through the woods and pastures, fishing, camping and revelling in nature. In 1999 he moved to St. Louis, where he graduated from Clayton High School. He had many close and adoring friends and loved hanging out with them on the rivers, in the clubs and at his famous barbeques. Matt was a superb jokster and was infamous for his pranks and wisecracks. He was also well known for his playful, and at times offensive dancing. Though his time in this world was brief, he crammed his life full of wonderful adventures, including innumerable concerts, road trips, visits to Alaska and thousands of delicious meals, many prepared on his salvaged Canary-yellow Weber grill. As Matt would say, he drove it til the wheels fell off! Matt's spirit was one of pure love and joy. He knew no strangers and he disliked no one. Over the years he had many jobs, including butcher, cook, handyman and self-taught stone mason. When he wasn't working he was helping friends & neighbors with anything they needed. Ellen Goevert was the great love of Matt's life, and they were planning to marry. They shared many splendid years together as best friends and partners. They remain soulmates for all times. Matt leaves behind his parents, Doyle & Susan Browning, and loving sister Holley, of Sylacauga, Al,. He also leaves his best friend & sister Brooke of Nome, Alaska, along with her partener Joel Alowa and their son, Simeon Alowa, who loved his Uncle Matt. He is survived by many aunts, uncles, cousins and by his grandfather Ellis Browning, in Alabama. Matthew would want us to celebrate him with music, food and laughter. We will feel his presence as we honor his precious exuberant soul who leaves a deep imprint on our lives forever. Memorial service in Matt's honor will be 6:00pm Wed. September 23, 2009 at the V.F.W. Post 3500, 1717 Big Bend Blvd. Richmond Heights, Mo. 63117. 1-314-781-3781
