Mary Martha (Shanahan) Hoffman, 79, of Richmond Heights, MO, passed away on the 26th of September, 2024 after a battle with sarcoma cancer. Mary was born on the 9th of September, 1945 to James and Helen Shanahan in San Francisco, CA. She was their third child in a line of six, including her siblings Nora, Jane, Paddy, Tim and Katy. Mary met David Hoffman at a "Teen Town" dance one Sunday night in 1961. They later married and remained life-long parishioners of St. Luke's Catholic Church. Mary and Dave raised four children; Mia, Davy, Jon and Andy. For many years, Mary was the director of housekeeping at The Sisters of Saint Mary Convent in Richmond Heights. In her later years, she worked as a receptionist for the non-profit organization, Habitat for Humanity. She also maintained lasting friendships with those she loved in her church choir and her crafts group. Mary is preceded by her parents James and Helen Shanahan and her husband Dave. She is survived by her daughter Mia, son-in-law Ed, their son Eddie, her son Davy and his children Eyen, Keegan and Trip, her son Jon, her son Andy, her daughter-in-law Katie, and their children Joey, Finnegan and Cooper. Services will be held at the Basilica of Saint Louis, King of France (The Old Cathedral) on October 10, 2024 at 10:00 AM [visitation at 9:00 AM] In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Habitat for Humanity - Saint Louis.
