Mary Lou Alvera Kannawurf (nee Johnson) entered into eternal rest with her Lord and Savior on Thursday evening September 28th, 2023 at the age of 83. She is survived by her husband of nearly 64 years, Lewis A. Kannawurf. She also leaves behind two sons Dale L. (Laurie) Kannawurf, Mark L. Kannawurf as well as one daughter Holly L. (Martin) Spraul. She is the beloved grandmother of Kyle E. Kannawurf, Shelby C. Spraul, and Gracie L. Spraul. She was preceded in death by her parents Alvin and Rhoda Johnson, her father-in-law and mother-in-law Lewis E. and Ruth Kannawurf, as well as many dear uncles, aunts, cherished cousins and friends. Mary Lou was a life-long resident of Fenton, Missouri. She enjoyed her role of homemaker greatly; spending her time cooking, cleaning, crafting and gardening. She also provided childcare to numerous children, both in her home and at Wee Care Day Care and the Goddard School in Fenton. She treated all children God entrusted in her care as her own and loved them dearly. Mary Lou was raised in the Lutheran Church Missouri Synod and lived her faith in action at both Valley Park Lutheran Church in Valley Park and Our Savior Lutheran Church and School in Fenton. She has always been an active member of her church, teaching Sunday School and VBS, filling the role of Sunday School superintendent for 20 plus years, working many church dinners, volunteering in numerous roles in the school while her children attended, leading the older adult group, and always being in charge of decorating the sanctuary for Christmas. She was also an active member of Aid Association for Lutherans/Thrivent serving at both the local and state levels. In 1990, she was recognized as one of President George H.W. Bush's 1000 Points of Light for her volunteerism efforts and was invited to a banquet at the White House. The joy and love she shared will surely be missed by all as she often put others before herself. She was well loved by so many family and friends who take comfort that she has finally found peace in the loving arms of her Savior Memorials Donations to Our Savior Lutheran Sunday School.
