She graduated from Brentwood High School in 1949 and received an Associate of Arts in education from Southwest Baptist College in 1953. She taught third grade in Cooter, Missouri before returning to St. Louis to marry Herbert N. F. Wynn on July 2, 1954. She was soon the mother of three children. Her husband, following a call to the ministry, moved the family to Hannibal, Missouri to attend Hannibal LaGrange College and then to Liberty, Missouri to attend William Jewell College. Marlene worked as a typesetter for the Liberty Tribune while living there. Returning to St. Louis County, her husband became pastor of Castlewood Baptist Chapel in 1962 where served as pastor's wife and volunteer church secretary for more than a decade. Here their fourth child was born. She went to work for Missouri Baptist Hospital in 1974 where she worked until her retirement. Her husband died on January 22, 1982. While she held several positions at Missouri Baptist Hospital her most rewarding was as secretary to the chaplains. Marlene fulfilled leadership roles in the Women's Missionary Union at the church, association, and state convention levels throughout her lifetime. In addition to her roles as wife, mother and grandmother she would most like to be remembered as a pastor's wife, a chaplain's secretary and an advocate for the spreading of the gospel of Jesus Christ through missionary endeavors throughout the world.
