Obituary

Marie Lutman, 94, passed away on March 5, 2023, in Valley Park, MO. Marie was born on April 26, 1928, in St. Louis, Missouri. At the end of World War II, Marie met Ray Lutman shortly after his return from service in the U.S. Army. They married on November 24, 1945, and spent 69 wonderful years together. Early in their married life, they both decided to follow Christ and center their lives around Him. The couple had 3 children; Beckie Collins of Barnhart, Mark Lutman of Fenton, and Mindy Bressert of Dallas, Texas. Marie was known for her sharp mind, especially when playing Rummikub. Her family can attest that she crafted the world's best chicken and noodles. However, there is no doubt that Marie's greatest love was for her savior Jesus. Ray and Marie made sure their children grew up with God's Word in their lives. After Ray went home to be with the Lord in 2014, Marie continued loving her family and friends. She made numerous trips to Texas to spend time with her "Texas" family, especially for Thanksgiving each year. In 2021, Covid caught up with Marie, but she proved again to be tough as nails. Marie was determined to attend her granddaughter Colleen's wedding in 2021, and she did. She spent her final years living at the Cape Albeon community in Valley Park. She dearly loved watching the ducks on the lake outside her window and winning bowls of candy at Bingo. Marie is survived by her children, Beckie (Bill), Mark (Bridget), and Mindy (Dave). She leaves behind her eight grandchildren: Jennifer (Justin), Matthew, Stephen, Colleen (Dan), Hannah, Natalie (Jason), Dane and Brandon (Callie) . Marie also had the blessing of nine great-grandchildren: Tyler, Stella, Van, Stone, Penny, Blaze, Walker, Breeze and Bjorn. She loved her family with the deepest devotion. The hole left in our hearts is huge. The service for Marie Lutman will be held on March 9, 2023 , at 9:30 a.m. at Jay B. Smith Funeral Home in Fenton, Missouri. Visitation: 8:30 a.m. Burial: Marie will be laid to rest next to her beloved husband Ray at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery immediately following the service.
