Marian Lee Betts, aged 79, passed peacefully, surrounded by love and music on July 18th, 2025. Marian was native to St. Louis, born in North County on December 21st, 1945. She spent her early years with her mother and sister and a large extended family. Marian later lived with her sister, Claudette Jordan, before being supported by the Arc beginning in 1984. She and her sister continued to share visits, lots of phone calls, and holidays until her sister's passing in 2008. Marian was supported by St. Louis Arc Residential Services for 44 years. Marian worked at Lafayette Industries North for over 20 years ending in the 2010s to pursue a well-deserved retirement. She attended Support Innovations Day Program for nearly 10 years where she was able to volunteer and explore recreational and social endeavors. After fully retiring, Marian enjoyed relaxing at home, often choosing to listen to her CDs or records, socialize, or just enjoy sitting in the sun. Throughout Marian's life she was faced with challenges but triumphed every obstacle with her positive attitude, sweet demeanor, charm, and a deep love of music. She was known by many to be able to sweet-talk her way into anything including her love of doughnuts, pickles, and coffee. Marian's life was filled with joy and friendship. She shared her love of parades, BBQ ribs, old school Rhythm and Blues, a good meal, and regional travel with housemates, neighbors, and support staff alike. Marian took great pride in her appearance and could often be found moisturizing with Vaseline, getting her hair or nails done, or styling her many, many wigs. Marian will be remembered for many things but, we would like to share with all that Marian was a wonderful self-advocate, a loving and warm woman, and had exceptional taste in music.
