Marcia Louis Rauch, born October 14, 1944, died Tuesday evening June 7, 2016. She was preceded in death by her parents Margaret and Lester Rauch of Dayton, Ohio. She is survived by her partner of 40 years, Mary Griggs, her brother Gary Rauch and sister Carol Medlar. Marcia graduated from Deaconess School of Nursing and Lindenwood college with a nursing degree. After 8 years as an obstetrics nurse at Deaconess Hospital, Marcia began work as a nurse drawing blood for the American Red Cross in St. Louis, Missouri. Over the years at the Red Cross she hold positions of Director of Scheduling, Director of Training, Director of Nursing and, after receiver her Master's degree in Human Resources Management from Washington University, she held the position of Human Resources Director. Marcia was a caregiver by vocation but also out of the goodness of her hart. She demonstrated her love for people by cooking for them, baking and planning celebrations for birthdays and holiday. She loved fireworks, traveling, Universal Studios and Disney World. She stepped in to provide care to friends who were injured or ill and for the last 8 years helped take care of triplets and their brother. She was an avid reader and TV enthusiast. Her greatest hope was for a more peaceful and kinder world. She was loved and will be sadley missed by all who knew her. Any memorials should be made to the Leelanau Conservancy. Marcia loved the Leelanau peninsula in Michigan. She admired the work of the Leelanau Conservancy in their effort to preserve and protect the natural areas on the peninsula.
