Obituary

Lisa Ann Portwood September 14, 1968 to July 10, 2024 Lisa Ann Portwood (55), daughter of the late Phillip Portwood and the late Angela (Minton) Portwood Hogan, was born on September 14, 1968, and passed away on July 10, 2024, in High Ridge, Missouri. Lisa is survived by her children, Melissa Portwood and Spencer (previously known as Maddy) Portwood; her grandson, Garrett Sepich; and her siblings, Donna Pieber, Alex (Connie) Portwood, Mary (Ricky) Steingruby, Philip (Nancy) Portwood, Deborah Adamson, and Yonnie Portwood. Lisa was an adoring aunt to many nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews. Lisa was hardworking, giving, and incredibly kind. She had a spiritual strength that was beyond measure. Lisa was deeply passionate about caring for people and their well-being, often going above and beyond for her loved ones. From the day Lisa first became a mother, she dedicated her life to her children, working her hardest to ensure they had the best life possible. Whether volunteering as the leader of a Girl Scout troop-not just for her own children but for her nieces as well-or supporting her children's love of dance and gymnastics, she made sure her children knew she was always in their corner. Lisa graduated from Maplewood Richmond Heights High School in 1986 and went on to earn her Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) from UMSL in 2010. Her education, paired with her generous and nurturing spirit, allowed her to continue supporting, teaching, and taking care of others. She never hesitated to become a caregiver for her ailing parents, and she often put her needs aside to tend to those she cared about. When she was diagnosed with Lupus and could no longer work as a nurse, she chose to go back to UMSL to support other nursing students in the lab. She shared her knowledge and passion for helping others with those who would follow in her footsteps. Lisa had a way of connecting others through her kindness and love. Her legacy and kind spirit will be passed on by everyone she came into contact with. Her motto was "Pay it forward," because one random act of kindness can have a long-lasting, rippling effect. We'll miss you more than words can say, Lisa. The love and memories you gave us will forever be a treasure. A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
