Obituary

A woman before and of her time, one that had it all - family and career. A 1947 graduate of DePaul Hospital School of Nursing, Lioba had a successful life, fulfilling her hopes and dreams for herself and her family. This was not an easy task. There were always challenges raising seven children, and caring for her aging mother, while working full time. Her favorite sayings were -"you'll live" and "take it outside". She ensured her children had the best education she could provide – all attended parochial schools through high school. All seven attained post-graduate university degrees, with two nurse-practitioners, a veterinarian, an aerospace engineer, and three military officers. She not only cared for her family, as a nurse she provided care for many patients, including one that would introduce her to her future husband, Jim. As a devout Catholic, she contributed to and was very much involved in her parish, Our Lady Queen of Peace. She mentored parish school children with special needs in the Oasis program; a constant member of the parish Small Faith Group, and provided blood-pressure screening for parish members. She loved to travel and took every opportunity to see the world. This included two trips to Germany to explore her roots, as well as Paris, Rome, and the Vatican. She has now traveled on to be with God, her siblings - Sydney, Arthur, (both lost in WWII), Margaret and Chester, twin sons Mathew and Mark, grandson Nathan and after 19 years, her husband of 51 years - Jim She is survived by 7 children - David V. Weir, MBA (MaryKay); Ruth A. Hall, RN-PNP, MHA, Maj USAF (Ret) (Robert); J Michael Weir, MBA-A, Maj USAF (Ret) (Dale Marie); Patrice E. Chandler, MSN-Neonatal Clinical Nurse Specialist, LtCol USA (Ret) (Jeffrey); John W. Weir, MBA (Susan); Robert J. Weir, MS-AE (Venus); and Mary M. Johnson, DVM (Curtis); 12 grandchildren, 1 step-grandchild, 4 great grandchildren, and two step-great grandchildren. A life well lived! Contributions to the Alzheimer's Association or Memorial Masses appreciated
