Linus John Macke passed away peacefully on July 13, 2021 after a brief illness at the DeGreef Hospice House in St. Louis, MO. Linus was born July 16, 1928 to Ann and Joseph Macke in Leopold, MO. He lived in the St. Louis area most of his life. He was married to Virginia (Schaefer) Macke for many years. He was preceded in death by his second wife, Joyce (Archibald) Macke. Linus had 8 children; Alan (Darlene), Pam Thomes (George), Lana Goodin (John), Carleen Morris (Guy), Susan Kavanaugh (Timothy), Julie, Greg (Sabine), and Terea (Jim). Linus was a loved big brother to 6 sisters and brothers, and beloved by his many grandchildren and great grandchildren. He spent his life as a local truck driver and a proud Teamster, serving as a shop steward. He was well respected in his field. He enjoyed playing cards, writing poetry and limericks, singing, and daily crossword puzzles, but mostly enjoyed being with his family and friends. Linus frequented many local restaurants and always had a big hug, smile and stories for the staff. He was dearly loved and once aptly described as a "Hail fellow, well met." A Celebration of Life ceremony is planned for 2:00-6:00pm on Saturday, August 28th, at Jay B. Funeral Home in Fenton. Mask Recommend.
