On Tuesday, January 14th, Linda Beth Goudy, born July 12, 1965, of Promise Land Community Homes (Rainbow Village), in St. Louis County, went home to be with Our Lord, Jesus Christ. Linda came into this world with different abilities than most. She was born with Down Syndrome. Not knowing that Linda was also born with a tenacious and vivacious spirit, the doctors of the time predicted a mentality stunted, feeble, short life. She proved those doctors wrong! She learned to walk, she learned to run, and she learned to dance. She learned to talk in her own time and eventually to sing, which she loved to do, loudly! She was able to write her own name and copy print. She was able to begin to think critically and problem solve locks, puzzles, other small tasks. Linda had an infectious laugh that would ring out, and light up a room. This was especially evident after she had lulled you into a sense of complacency during a game of Memory; winning by a landslide. She may have been predicted to fail to thrive, but not only did she survive, she flourished! Her life is a testament to transcending preconceived notions of the ability of differently abled persons. She will be forever loved and greatly missed. She was preceded in death by her Mother, Thelma L. (Rolphing) Goudy, and her Father, Robert O. Goudy; her brother, Robert D. Goudy; and her Great Nephew, Woodrow Goudy. Linda is survived by; sisters; Patricia Ludy (spouse: James K. Ludy) of Jefferson City, MO, and Carolyn Young of Forestville, CA.; nieces; Elizabeth (Ludy) Wrigley (spouse: Charles) of Dardenne Prairie, MO.; nephews; James O. Ludy (spouse: Lyndsay) of Osage Bend, MO, Aaron R. Goudy (spouse: Kate) of Hillsboro, MO, Jon R. Goudy of St. Louis, MO, as well as four Great-nieces and one Great-nephew.
