LaVerne Henricks Bast was born and raised in Manchester, MO with 4 siblings, Martin,Peggy, Bernice and Charles. They grew up taking care of each other surrounded by family. She married Kenneth Bast on November 27, 1958, and had been happily for 63 years living in Fenton, MO. In early years she proudly worked Standard Oil before dedicating her life to raising her family, Eric, David, Theresa and twins, Penelope and Jannette. She cherished her 14 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren who brought her immense pride and joy.LaVerne had a love for life's simple pleasures. She enjoyed traveling, sewing and tending to her beautiful flowers and vegetable garden. She had a green thumb for any plant that came her way. Her vegetable garden was a labor of love, providing canned goods for use throughout the year. Her strength and resilience was evident in everything she did. LaVerne had a special love for Coca Cola, a tradition that began when Penelope was a baby and grew into a cherished family collection. Faith was an important part of LaVerne's life. Once married she was a long time parishioner of St Paul's Catholic Church in Fenton, MO, where she volunteered with the Friday fish fry and sang in the adult choir. Her strength and devotion as a wife is unparalleled, standing along side Ken she worked the family garden, assisted with building their home and raised 5 strong beautiful children. She has always been proud and admired her grandchildren and hearing new stories about the great grandchildren. Her last days at home she found happiness in the things she loved the most, working with her flowers, getting seeds ready for planting and of course cheering on the Cardinals! Her legacy of love, perseverance, faith, and devotion will continue to bloom in the hearts she touched. She will be forever missed.
