Laura LaValle, 76, passed away on May 6, 2024, in Savoy, IL. She was born on May 29, 1947 in St. Louis, MO, to Richard and Esther "Hawkins" Schnatzmeyer. Laura graduated from Riverview Gardens High School in 1965. She started her career as an Administrative Assistant with McDonnell Douglas and went on to work for the St. Louis Graphic Arts Union. Laura married Richard LaValle on March 29, 1997 in St. Louis. Laura was best known for her beautiful singing voice and would sing in choirs and at weddings. She loved to crochet and cross stitch and make gifts for friends and family. She loved her puzzles and watching reruns of Friends and Andy Griffith. Survived by her husband, Richard LaValle of Savoy, IL; children John Verstraete, Jr. of Florissant, MO, Tammy Lester (Todd) of Sanford, NC, Steven LaValle (Anna) of Oulu, Finland, Renee LaValle of New Haven, MO, and Kris Wagner-Waldrop (Stacy) of Chicago, IL.; Grandmother of Hunter, Alex, Henry, Ethan, Rose, and Petri. Laura is preceded in death by her parents, Richard and Esther Schnatzmeyer. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, May 15, 2024 from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Jay B. Smith Funeral Home located at 777 Oakwood Dr., Fenton, MO 63026. The Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, May 15, 2024 at 12:00 PM at Jay B. Smith Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Lakewood Park Cemetery located at 7330 Mackenzie Rd., Affton, MO 63123. Memorial donations can be made in Laura's name to St. Jude's Children's Hospital, Shriners Children's Hospital, or the Multiple Myeloma Foundation.
