Kenneth Peter Sarvies

January 29, 1950 - June 11, 2026

Kenneth Peter Sarvies passed away on June 11, 2026 in his home, surrounded by his family, at the age of 76.

Born on January 29, 1950, in St. Louis, Missouri, to Kenneth Herman and Martha Louise
Sinkhorn Sarvies, Ken grew up as an only child and spent his life serving others. He graduated from Southwest High School in 1967 and attended Forest Park Community College before being drafted into the United States Army in 1969. He proudly served in Vietnam and was honorably discharged in 1971 as a Specialist 5 (E-5).

On January 29, 1972, Ken married the love of his life, Joyce Ann Lichte. Together they built a marriage of more than 54 years centered on faith, family, and unwavering devotion to one another. Ken trusted God throughout every season of his life and was actively involved in his church community.

Ken worked as a
bodyman and mechanic at World Wide Car Service. He later spent more than 25 years as an Auto Damage Appraiser for State Farm Insurance before retiring in 2005.

While Ken was proud of his military service and career, his greatest joy was his family. He was a devoted husband, a wise and steady father, and an adored grandfather. Family was always his top priority, and some of his happiest moments were spent with those he loved most.

Known for his servant's heart, Ken was always willing to lend a hand. He was the ultimate handyman who could seemingly fix anything, a lifelong learner who was endlessly curious, and a gifted gardener with an incredible green thumb. He loved photography and faithfully documented family memories through countless photographs.

Faith was the foundation of Ken's life. He loved the Lord and lived out his beliefs through service and compassion for others. Whether helping a friend, supporting his church or caring for his family, Ken's actions reflected the values he held dear.

Throughout his life, Ken faced extraordinary health challenges with remarkable courage. Over the years, he was diagnosed with five different forms of cancer and met each battle with determination, resilience and unwavering faith. Even during difficult days, he maintained a positive attitude and rarely let others see the pain he endured. Ken's strength was not only in his ability to persevere, but in the grace and optimism with which he faced every challenge. He never stopped fighting, and his tenacity inspired all who knew him.

Ken will be remembered for his kindness, wisdom, dependability, and the quiet ways he cared for others. His legacy lives on through the family he cherished and the many lives he touched through his generosity and example.

Ken is survived by his beloved wife, Joyce Ann
Sarvies; his sons, Christopher Jason Sarvies (Caren Lochmann Sarvies) and Todd Michael Sarvies (Emily Lewis Sarvies); his cherished grandchildren, Vera Jean Sarvies, Millie Rose Sarvies, and Lewis Frederick Sarvies; and many extended family members and friends.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, June 18 from 6:00-8:
00pm at JB Smith Funeral Home.

A second visitation will be held on Friday, June 19, from 8:00am -8:45am at JB Smith Funeral Home followed by a procession to Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery for a burial service with military honors at 9:15am.

A memorial service celebrating Ken's life will be held at 11am on Friday, June 19 at The Journey West County.

In lieu of flowers the family asks for donations to be made to The Kaufman Fund (www.thekaufmanfund.org) or Veterans Community Project (www.vcp.org) in support of our veterans.
