Obituary

Kenneth Bast was born and raised in Fenton, MO with 3 siblings, Delores, Norman, and Velma. They grew up on the family farm. He hauled water with his father(Fred Bast) for 20 years in Fenton and surrounding areas. He married Laverne Henricks November 27, 1958 and have been happily married for 63 years. He then went to work for Von Weise Gear Co where he later retired after 27 years as a machinist. In addition to loving his wife, he enjoyed raising his family, Eric, David, Theresa and twins, Penelope and Jannette. He cherished his 14 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren. He was a man of unconditional love. He had many hobbies such as gardening, woodworking, and playing pinochle. His gardening was never small and passed along his incredible work ethic in working the garden. He built his own home, cabinets, and furniture. The craftsmanship is unmatched. It was playing pinochle with the family every Saturday night before watching Wrestling at the Chase. Ken's past time was tinkering with his trains, which included skillfully building the tracks, landscape and tunnels to his creative vision. He was a longtime parishioner of St Paul's Catholic Church in Fenton, MO where he later assisted with the Friday fish fry and sang in the adult choir. His last days at home he enjoyed looking out the window, seeing the chickens, deer, and the "diamonds on the lake". He will be forever missed.
