Kay L. (Florence) Poppen, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away unexpectedly on September 13, 2024, at the age of 78. Born on September 8th, 1946, in St. Louis, Missouri, Kay brought joy and love to all who knew her. She cherished her family and friends, finding great happiness in their company. Kay had a deep appreciation for the beauty of nature, with a special fondness for clouds, flowers and birds. Her creative spirit shone through in her love of sewing and hosting special themed parties. Kay is survived by her devoted husband of 59 years, Toby Poppen. She will also be deeply missed by her sons, Chris (Laura) Poppen and Tim Poppen; and her grandchildren: Alex (Kelsey) Poppen, Olivia (Jacob) Poppen and Jamie (Jack) Poppen. Additionally, Kay is survived by her siblings: Kent Florence, Judy Sawyer, and Mark (Tammy) Florence and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Walter and Emma Florence. Visitation is Saturday, September 21st at JB Smith's Funeral Home (Maplewood) - 7456 Manchester, St. Louis, MO 63143. 9:00-11:00 am followed by a memorial ceremony 11:00-11:30am. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to St. Jude's Children's Hospital. Kay will be remembered for her warmth, kindness, and unwavering love. She will be dearly missed by all who knew her.
