Kathleen Marie Dismuke passed into the hands of God on Thursday, July 16, 2026. Dearest wife of Tommy V. Dismuke of 55 years. Beloved mother of Susan Christine Marti (Joseph), Frances Ann Dismuke, Audrey Marie Bond (Mark) and Jessica Lynn Dismuke. Loving grandmother to Brandon Marti (Olivia), Abigail Dismuke and David Zirkle, Thomas and Joseph Bond, and great grandmother of Layla Scott and Sage Marti. Caring friend to many.

Born Kathleen Marie Sisson on May 2, 1950 to Howard Leon Sisson and Dorothy Emily Sisson (née Meyer). She is preceded by her parents, a brother Joseph Sisson and sister Dorothy Jean Waddell. She is survived by four brothers and five sisters, Linda Vogler, Thomas Sisson, Pamela Cotter, Sheila Richards, Hollis Sisson, Bradley Sisson, Cynthia Todd, Julie Lowery and Robert Sisson.

Kathy grew up in South St. Louis City, the fourth of twelve siblings. As a child, she spent many summers on her grandparents' farm in Pocahontas, Arkansas with her siblings and cousins. As a teenager, she loved Motown music, and 60s pop. She learned to sew, and made many of her own clothes, which she carried on for her young children by making clothes and costumes. In 1968, she graduated from Roosevelt High School in St. Louis City. After high school, she briefly worked for the Federal Bureau of Investigation doing secretarial work.

At age twenty, she married Tommy V. Dismuke in St. Louis City on October 17, 1970. Together they designed and built their home of 55 years in Fenton, Missouri. They raised four daughters and her youngest brother, Robert, from the age of seven. As a career homemaker, Kathy dedicated herself to caring for her home, and immediate family, as well as, many elderly and disabled family members.

Kathy was quick and steadfast in encouraging and supporting her children and grandchildren's interests and education. She volunteered as a room mother for her elementary school aged children. Spanning over two decades, she was an active member of the Girl Scouts of Greater St. Louis acting as a troop leader for her daughters, dedicating time teaching crafts, camping and songs. She spent time taking her daughters to swimming and dancing lessons, as well as taking dancing lessons herself, as an adult to learn tap and jazz. She enjoyed vacations at the lake, and spending time at the bowling alley, participating in leagues with her husband, children and friends.

One of her very favorite things to do was to spend time with her grandchildren. She loved taking them on outings in St. Louis, reading to them and teaching them how to read. Kathy dedicated many years to homeschooling, joining the local homeschooling community to provide education to her youngest daughter from Kindergarten through high school graduation. She was passionate about politics, and often volunteered at her local polls. For many years, she took on responsibilities as treasurer and founding member of her neighborhood association. She was a lifetime patron of the St. Louis County and Jefferson County Libraries, and took part in many activities there. Kathy was very interested in researching her genealogy. She was proud of her Sisson Revolutionary War solider ancestry, and Scottish heritage as a member of the Bain and McKenzie clans.

Kathy was also very proficient in baking and cooking. She made many delicious meals and birthday cakes for her family, as well as teaching her daughters and grandchildren to cook. She loved bargain shopping, jewelry making and British crime dramas. She was knowledgeable in the areas of nature,botany, homeopathic medicine, law, the St. Louis road network and a little bit of everything.

Of all of her interests, her longest and most dedicated hobbies were knit and crochet. Kathy was a decades-long member of the Greater St. Louis Knitters Guild, forming many friendships, and frequently volunteering at events, never hesitating to share her immense knowledge. As a master level knitter, she attended knitting and fiber arts conventions to continue to learn, and always carried a project with her. Over her life, she used her skill and dedication to make innumerable beautiful handmade items, not only for herself, but her family, friends and strangers in need.

Above all she loved her family, and would drop everything to be there for them when she was needed. She was a lifelong Christian, and found solace in her faith. She attended 1st Baptist Church of Arnold. Kathy was a kind, caring and compassionate mother, wife, sister, sister-in-law, cousin, aunt, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend. She will be lovingly missed until we meet her in heaven. We love you, Mom.
