Joyce Marie Miller (nee Schmelig), 79, passed away on February 27, 2024, at the Bethesda Dilworth Nursing Home in Kirkwood, MO. The loving mother of Joseph (Laura) Miller, Jeffrey (Ronica Fuentes) Miller, and step-daughter Kim Vaninger. Dear sister of George (Barb) Schmelig and MaryAnn (Ed) Ryan. Cherished Grandmother of Jacob Miller, Gabrielle Miller, Evan Miller, and step-grandchildren Zachary and Benjamin Vaninger. Her parents, George and Dorothy (Kuehnel) Schmelig, preceded her in death. She was united in marriage to the late James Miller on August 1, 1970. Joyce had a diverse range of interests. She loved music and dogs and enjoyed horse racing, gardening, and sipping wine and margaritas. She was also a St. Louis Cardinals baseball fan and enjoyed college basketball, especially March Madness. She loved participating in Mardi Gras festivities and was known for her amazing jambalaya. Joyce loved cooking and baking for her family. She worked as a dietary technician at St. Clements/Red Bud Regional Hospital for over 25 years and was awarded Employee of the Year in 2002. Joyce had a deep passion for helping and serving others. She cherished spending time with her grandchildren and was always there to cheer them on at their sports games. Memorial Visitation will be held on Sunday, March 10, 2024, from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm at Jay B. Smith Maplewood Chapel, with a service beginning at 12:00 pm. Interment will take place at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Lift For Life Gym, a charity Joyce personally supported to help inner-city youth. www.liftforlifegym.org , or
