Dr. Joseph Richard Engel
May 25, 1950 - October 5, 2026

Dr. Joseph Richard Engel of Fenton, Missouri passed away on October 5th, at his childhood home in Fenton.

Dr. Joe, as he liked to be called, was a lifelong resident of Fenton. He attended St. Paul Catholic Grade School and graduated from Lindbergh High School. He received his bachelor's degree from the University of Missouri-St. Louis and his Doctorate from the University of Missouri-Kansas City School of Dentistry in 1976.

Dr Joe practiced dentistry in the St. Louis area for most of his career. His many interests over the years included snow skiing, motorcycles, flying various unique types of aircrafts and traveling. Other passions were the theatre where he performed in many plays over the years. He had an interest in politics, once running for State Representative of Missouri. He also enjoyed being the Karaoke MC at his favorite watering hole, Joe Clark's in Fenton.

Joe's personality was of a fun-loving guy, always having the latest (or sometimes not the latest) joke to tell. He was a stranger to no one and will be sorely missed by his friends and family.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Virginia Violet Engel, and his father, Dr. Arthur Lewis Engel. He is survived by his brother, James C. Engel (Mary); his sister, Gretchen Engel (John); his kid brother, Dr. Gene Engel (Trish); his children, Audrey, Clayton, and Julie; his grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
