September 24, 2014 Jonathan Dale Poinsett, (JD) passed away peacefully on Wednesday, September 24, 2014. Jonathan was the beloved husband of Chanel Poinsett (nee Matherne), dear son of Dale W. Poinsett & Maureen (Donald) Curtis (nee Selby), loving father of Caden and Alexas, step son Eli, dear brother in law, uncle, nephew, cousin and friend to many. He also leaves behind his German shepherd dog, Heidi. Jonathan served in the United States Army in 2001. He was stationed in Baghdad Iraq in 2003 and served in the 19 Delta Calvary as a Scout for the 2nd Armored Division. He guarded the United States Embassy and patrolled a four man team in a Humvee for 12 hour shifts. His responsibilities included driving, dismounting and or manning a 50-caliber machine gun during his deployment. His passing reminds us of the story Jonathan told Sister when he was in pre-school. Sister asked him if he was ok sitting outside of class all alone on time out. His response was Sister, I'm never alone…Jesus is always with me and "He" is. We want to thank everyone who touched our lives by caring for Jonathan at SSM DePaul Hospital, John Cochran Veterans Hospital, Doctors, Nurses, The Bell Street Clinic and Pastoral Staff.
