Obituary

John (Jack) McCarthy, 92, passed away peacefully with family by his side on April 12, 2025, in St. Louis, MO. John was born on January 3, 1933 in Vallejo, CA, to Francis and Stella McCarthy. John graduated from Rolla High School in 1950 and went on to earn a degree in 1954 from Southeast Missouri State University where he was a founding member of the Sigma Tau Gamma fraternity. John served in the Army as a Specialist 3rd class from 1954-1956 where he met a group of guys that would become life long friends. They would go on to have annual reunions for the next 50+ years. After his service, he worked as a sales representative for French's Mustard and then started his own business as a Management Consultant for physicians and dentists. He retired at the age of 91. John was best known for his loyalty, kindness and unconditional love for his family and friends. He was an avid sports fan, but had a special love for St Louis baseball. It started with spending summers at Sportsman Park when he was young to watching his last game just days before he passed. John is survived by his wife, Gloria, of 65 years, son Brian, daughter, Margo Hathaway (Jeffrey), grandsons John McCarthy, Michael Hathaway (Cassandra), Jordan Hathaway (Julia) & Jack Hathaway, great grandson Beckett Hathaway, and several close friends. John is preceded in death by his son Scott McCarthy. John will be laid to rest at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery in a private ceremony. Memorial donations can be made in John's name to the National Kidney Foundation.
