John Mattox SR. Beloved husband of Mary Mattox. Beloved Father of Andrew (Chasity), & John JR.. Beloved Grandfather of Hailey, Mia, Maggie, Cayden, Anna, Cora, & Carlee. A beloved great grandfather of Aliza and arriving Rylee. Beloved Brother of Mary, Larry, Sharon, Theresa, Peggy, Annette, & Lisa. He was a beloved uncle, cousin & friend. He is preceded in death by his parents Armin & Mary and his brother Gary. John was a master architectural carpenter with a career spanning over 50 years from doing woodwork in the Richmond height community center, the city museum to personalized doors and kitchens. If he wasn't found at work or working on side projects he was found around baseball. Whether it was watching it on tv, in the stadium or on the field coaching many young men, all who still admire him today. He truly loved watching & coaching his only grandson being able to share the love for the game together. John was a big man with the biggest heart who loved to make jokes, making the best BBQ & having luncheons with his work buddies. John loved his life and all those who were in it. He was looking forward to retiring and spending time with the love of his life for the past 47 years. His kindness, love and laugh will truly be missed by all who knew him.
