John "Jack" Edward Haggerty – dedicated husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather - passed away at the age of 83 on Wednesday, January 4 peacefully in his sleep, next to his beloved wife. Jack was born on March 31, 1939 and was the dear son of John Vincent and Margaret Jean Haggerty of Pennsylvania. He was the beloved husband of Marlene Kay Haggerty nee. Watson, and loving father of six children: Robin M. (James) Brashear of Lewiston, Idaho ; Jacqueline L. (Steve) Barrick of Burns, TN; Kris A. (Mark) Wallis of Imperial, MO; Janice L. (John) Gladden of Tallahassee, FL; John T. (Angie) Haggerty of Cape Girardeau, MO; and Robert J. (Tracy) Haggerty of St. Louis, MO. In addition, Jack was the loving grandfather (Pap-Pap) of 23 grandchildren and 21 great- grandchildren. He is survived by his dear sister, Judith Arnold nee. Haggerty, and was preceded in death by his dear brother, Robert Haggerty. Jack loved fiercely and never gave up on his loved ones. He was a hard worker who took great pride in providing for his family. Jack was an athlete who played football and baseball. As an adult, Jack enjoyed coaching many youth association programs. Jack was a lifetime sports-lover who especially loved watching his sons and grandchildren play high school and college sports. He enjoyed watching college football far more than professional football because he loved the trueness of the sport. Jack also loved watching or listening to the St. Louis Cardinals. His ability to consume Peter Pan peanut butter on any occasion is legendary. He is fondly known for his dramatic pause when you are having a conversation with him. All of his loved ones consider his passing as his most dramatic pause. We all cherish the memories of his life and look forward to him finishing his conversations with each one of us in Heaven. A private ceremony was held for the immediate family on Friday, January 6, 2023. A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
