Obituary

Joella A. Wilson, 84, of St. Louis, passed away on June 29, 2025, in St. Peters, Missouri. Affectionately known as "Granny Jojo" by her family and friends, Joella was deeply devoted to her faith and spent many years serving alongside her church community. While she held various jobs throughout her life, her greatest role and joy was being a mother and grandmother. Joella had a deep love for birds, nature, and above all, her family and friends. She was born in Oklahoma and later moved to St. Louis, where she met the love of her life, Alfred G. Wilson Sr. They shared many happy years of marriage and were blessed with five children, numerous grandchildren, and greatgrandchildren. Joella will always be remembered for her quick wit, infectious laughter, and the way she could light up any room. Her warmth, radiant smile, and unwavering love for those around her left a lasting impact. She leaves behind a legacy of kindness, joy, and a life well lived. She was preceded in death by her husband, Alfred G. Wilson Sr.; her son, Michael A. Wilson; granddaughter, Kristen M. Treat; and many beloved relatives. Joella is survived by two brothers, David (Theresa) and Robert(Lynda); three sons, Alfred (Diane), Kevin, and Wesley; one daughter, Patricia (John); nine grandchildren - Stephanie, Nathan, Danielle, Cassie, Sheree, Courtnie, Eric, Chelsea, and Chloe; twenty great-grandchildren; and countless lifelong friends. Service Sat. 7/12, 3:30 at Jay B Smith Funeral Home in Maplewood . Memorial gathering from 12-3:30 on Sat. 7/12 at Jay B Smith in Maplewood. Instead of fresh flowers, family requests outdoor perrenials to be planted around her gravesite.
