JoAnne "Jo" Katerine Brown

JoAnne "jo" Brown (nee Kartye) age 87, of St. Louis, Missouri passed away on September 16, 2026, at Mercy Hospital South in St. Louis County, Missouri. She was born on December 20, 1938, in St. Louis, Missouri to the late Peter and Hazel (nee Allen) Kartye.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Edward Brown (2016) and son, Patrick Sampson (2023).

She is survived by her brother Gary Kartye, sons Brian, Bruce (Kristin), and Peter Sampson; and grandson Andrew Sampson.

JoAnne graduated from Cleveland High School in St. Louis, Missouri in 1957. Her career included work in graphic arts, addiction counseling, and nursing home activities.

Interment will be with her husband Edward Brown, Korean War Veteran, at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery, St. Louis County, Missouri. In honoring JoAnne's request, no ceremony will be held.
