Ms. Joan Potter, age 83, passed away from complications of Alzheimer's disease the morning of Friday May 24, 2024. Joan was born in Morrellton, MO on December 9th, 1940 to Lawson Wideman and Mabel (Hickinbotham) Wideman. Joan was the oldest of five children born to her mother; Jean Wideman, Lawson (Sonny) Wideman, JoAnn Kargacin and Daniel Kargacin. Joan had four children; Christopher Wuertz, Denise Paris of NC, Corina (Chris) Mora of TN and Nicholas (Dawn) Caito. As well as being a grandmother to Anna Kowalski, Drew (Hannah) Paris, Lauren Adams, Autumn Caito, Nathan Mora, Rachel Mora and Josie Caito, and great-grandmother to Emery Otting and Zeplin Adams. Joan married Herman Potter of Crestwood, MO on February 4th 2008 in Las Vegas, NV. She also had surnames of Wuertz, McIntyre and Caito. She was preceded in death by Christopher Wuertz (son), Herman Potter (spouse), Lawson Wideman (father), Mabel Busch (mother), Daniel Kargacin (brother). Joan was a longtime resident of Fenton, MO. She was active in her community, participating in senior aerobics, bingo, and outings at the community center. Joan was also a member of Fenton United Methodist Church, enjoyed singing hymns and praising God, gardening, going to the movies, and her pets. Memorial Service will be held Friday May 31st from 2pm to 5pm at Wayne C. Kennedy Recreation Complex/Center located at 6050 Wells Rd St Louis, MO 63128. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in honor of Joan to The Alzheimer's Association / ALZ.org
